Cape Coast, Sept. 11, GNA — A crack down team from the National Headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department and the Central North Police Command on Friday afternoon, rescued a 30-year-old man who was allegedly abducted in Assin Fosu for six days.
A source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the victim was rescued in the Ashanti Region, however no arrest had been made at the time of filing the report and the victim was receiving treatment at the Presbyterian Hospital in Assin Praso.
Information about the alleged kidnappers’ reason for abducting the victim remained yet unknown.
A Police source said intensive investigations were ongoing to apprehend the suspects believed to be involved and to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged action.
The GNA reported had earlier in the week filed a media report that a desperate family at Assin Fosu, was racing against time to save 30-year-old Amoh, who had been reportedly held captive and subjected to brutal physical abuse by suspected kidnappers.
The sources claimed that the victim was abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026, and had at the time spent more than 48 hours in captivity, while his captors repeatedly threatened to kill him unless his family paid a ransom.
The abductors had initially demanded GH¢45,000 and gave the family a 24-hour ultimatum, after which an audio and video recordings were sent through the victim’s WhatsApp, showing the victim pleading for help while stripped naked, tied with a rope, and assaulted by his captors.
The family reportedly raised GH¢19,500 and sent it to the kidnappers, but one of them later demanded an additional GH¢30,500 to bring the total to GH¢50,000.
The report said a woman’s voice was heard at the background in the audio, accusing Bismark of allegedly defrauding the people involved in his detention.
Reacting to the rescuing news, some relatives and residents wept with relief and hugged one another tightly when they learned the abducted man had been rescued, praying and thanking God while demanding answers from authorities about how he was taken.
Some relatives called for immediate medical care and vowed to press charges, saying the ordeal had left the family shaken.
Some residents urged tighter community watch and better street lighting to prevent a future occurrence.
