Accra, Sept. 26, GNA – Givit Ghana, a non-profit organisation, has donated educational materials to students of Abeka 1 Basic School and Answarudeen Islamic Basic School in Accra, as part of the third edition of its Wear Smiles Project.
A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the initiative, was aimed at supporting underprivileged students as they returned to school for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The items donated included 1,400 exercise books, 210 teachers’ notebooks, 150 pens, more than 200 pencils, 70 sharpeners, 30 rulers, about 120 erasers, as well as sketch books and coloured pencils.
At the Abeka 1 Basic School, the Givit Ghana team was received by the Assistant Headmistress, Madam Patience Twum, alongside teachers and pupils.
The team subsequently visited the Answarudeen Islamic Basic School, where it was received by the Assistant Headmistress, Hajia Amina Abukbakar, together with teachers and students.
The teachers at both schools expressed appreciation to Givit Ghana, its donors, supporters and volunteers for the gesture, describing the donation as timely, particularly at the beginning of the new academic year.
It said the materials would help ease some of the educational challenges faced by students and enable them to participate more effectively in teaching and learning.
Beyond the presentation of the materials, the Givit Ghana team had an interaction with the students, to encourage them to take their education seriously and make good use of the opportunities available to them.
The students were reminded that education could open doors to opportunities and contribute to building a better future.
The team also encouraged the students to embrace the spirit of kindness behind the Wear Smiles Project, by extending support and showing care to their classmates, friends and other people whenever they had the opportunity.
It stressed that acts of kindness did not necessarily have to be significant or costly, noting that even small gestures could make a meaningful difference in the life of someone in need.
The Wear Smiles Project 3.0 was made possible through the contributions and support of Givit Ghana’s donors, supporters and volunteers.
Givit Ghana expressed appreciation to all individuals and organisations whose contributions helped make the initiative possible.
The organisation also expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to reach out to the students, support their educational needs and put smiles on their faces as they commenced the new academic year.
