Accra, Sept. 3, GNA – The Ghana Police Service has promoted six officers and a senior officer as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and enhance operational effectiveness within the Service.
The promotion ceremony, held at the National Police Headquarters in Accra and was led by Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) in attendance.
The promotions come amid ongoing police investigations into the alleged robbery and murder of 40-year-old gold buyer Seth Kobina at Agona Fie, near Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region, for which five suspects have reportedly been arrested.
Addressing the officers, Commissioner of Police (COP) Joseph Oklu Gyamera, Director-General of the Legal and Prosecution Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, congratulated them on their elevation.
He urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
COP Gyamera said the new ranks came with increased responsibility, particularly at a time when public expectations of the Police Service remained high in areas such as crime prevention, public safety and public trust.
He said the promotions were intended not only to reward performance but also to strengthen the Service’s leadership structure as part of ongoing reforms to improve operational effectiveness nationwide.
