Takoradi, Sept. 26, GNA – The Ghana Air Force has passed out 293 recruits after undergoing six months of intensive and rigorous military training.
The new Airmen, comprising 74 females and 219 males, took the Oath of Attestation of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), having successfully gone through their basic military training at the Air Force Recruits Training School, Takoradi.
Air Commodore Richard Danso, the Commander of the Air Force Training Command, at the Air Force Recruits Course 1/2026 passing out parade, said the 26 weeks of basic intensive military training had instilled in the recruits a sense of team spirit, cooperation, mental robustness, confidence, and the stamina needed to excel in their military careers.
He said training in the GAF was a continuous and uninterrupted activity, and that the six-months period was just the foundation towards the real work they would be doing at their various assigned bases.
He urged them to apply the zeal and hunger imbibed in them, towards whatever tasks they would be assigned to, and exhibit due diligence and commitment to their jobs.
“The Oath of Allegiance was just administered to you. I implore you to deliberate over the words carefully, for you will be bound by them throughout your careers in the Armed Forces,” Air Commodore Danso said.
He also cautioned the newly recruits against engaging in any illegal activities that could bring embarrassment to themselves and put the image of the GAF as well as the Air Force into disrepute.
“The Air Force command will not tolerate any unlawful acts of commission or omission on your part, because you will be individually held accountable for what you do.
“As military personnel, our part is to dedicate ourselves to our noble profession and at all times defend the Republic of Ghana, therefore, you are to uphold the military values of discipline, loyalty to country, dedication to duty, and selfless sacrifices in the service of the nation at all times,” he stated.
Air Commodore Danso congratulated the recruits for passing out successfully and becoming military men and women and asked them to be proud and confident in their careers.
As part of the passing out parade, awards were given to some of the Airmen who distinguished themselves during the training.
Aircraftman (AC) II Christabel Ampadu Asantewaa received two awards for the Overall Best Recruit, and Best in Academics.
AC II Samuel Yeboah Amofa was adjudged Best in Drill, AC II Michael Arthur, to an award for being the Best in Tactics, while AC II Sabien Tonyie, received that of the Best in Weapon Training.
The rest are AC II Iddrisu Dauda, Best Male in Physical Training, and AC II Eunice Salisu, Best Female in Physical Training.
