Accra, Sept. 18, GNA – The Accra Presbytery Women’s Ministry of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has donated learning materials and other items valued at GH¢12,000 to the GEC Basic School at Kotobabi.
The donation was presented ahead of the Accra Presbytery Women’s Ministry Rally 2026.
The rally is to be held on the theme: “Christian Women Empowered to Witness for Christ and His Second Coming in Every Sphere of Life.”
The items included exercise books, pens, pencils, crayons and detergents to support teaching and learning and promote a clean and conducive school environment.
Reverend Mrs. Mercy Motte-Kpegla, the Accra Presbytery Women’s Ministry Coordinator, together with other executive members made the presentation during a visit to the school at Kotobabi.
Rev. Mrs. Motte-Kpegla said the visit was undertaken with a sense of responsibility, adding that the Ministry’s constitution mandated it to engage in social action and acts of service to respond to the needs of others.
She said the Ministry often focused its social action activities on communities and institutions outside the Church but decided to look inward because the school was part of the Church.
“The Global Evangelical Basic School is part of the Church’s mission. The children who come here are not merely pupils occupying classrooms; they are children entrusted to us, and their well-being, education and development should matter to all of us,” she said.
She said as mothers, members of the Women’s Ministry saw an opportunity to provide practical and moral support to the school.
Rev. Mrs. Motte-Kpegla said every child in the school was expected to receive books and writing materials appropriate to their classes.
She said although the items might appear small, acts of kindness could make a significant difference, as children with basic learning materials were better positioned to participate confidently in class.
She said beyond the donation, the Ministry wanted to convey the message that the pupils were part of the Church’s family and that their welfare mattered.
Rev. Mrs. Motte-Kpegla encouraged the pupils to study hard, take care of the school and use every opportunity to become responsible and godly citizens.
She commended the management, staff and School Board for their work in shaping the lives of the pupils.
She said the gesture was an investment in the children and the Church’s mission of nurturing the next generation.
Mr Robert Doe Tordjo, the Headteacher of the School, commended the Ministry for their thoughtfulness and contribution to the development of the school children.
The ceremony was attended by Rev. Dr Emmanuel Kofi Bredzei, the Accra Presbytery Chairman, Members of the Presbytery Executive Committee, Women’s Ministry Executives and Zonal Women’s Ministry Executives.
