Kumasi, Sept 29, GNA – Fomena T I Ahmadiyya Senior High School (SHS) in the Adansi North district, has won the 2026 Ashanti Regional Students Drama Festival (STUDRAFEST) held in Kumasi.
St Lousi and Kumasi Wesley Girls Senior High Schools placed second and third positions respectively.
The competition was organised by the Ashanti Regional Center for National Culture (CNC) under the National Commission for Culture (NCC), in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Fomena TI Ahmadiyya SHS was awarded a plaque and is expected to represent the region in Accra during the national edition.
The competing schools were Fomena T.I Ahmadiyya, the Agogo State College, Kumasi Secondary Technical School, Kumasi Wesley Girls SHS, St Louis Girls SHS, Ibadur Rahman Academy SHS, Osei Tutu SHS and Toase SHS.
The schools were given seven themes from which each school was to select one upon which their drama production was developed.
Among the themes were, Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Ghanaian Identity Through Culture, The Silent Enemy: Drug Abuse and Its Impact on the Youth, and Digital Generation: The Influence of New Media on Society.
Fomena T.I Ahmadiyya SHS, performing a drama titled ‘The treasure we broke’ under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Ghanaian Identity through Culture’, stood out of the eight schools with an exceptional performance to depict realism.
Additionally, their storyline, visual elements such as props, costumes and design set were outstanding among the other competitors.
Other individual awards were presented under the categories of Best Actor and Actress, Best Costume, Best Script and Best Play.
Mr Peter Kofi Marfo, the Director of the Ashanti Regional CNC, said the STUDRAFEST was a platform to nurture young talents and equip students with creative and artistic skills for national development.
He applauded and commended the students and coordinators for their efforts and hard work in various drama productions.
Mr Marfo encouraged all participants to keep up the good work and assured them of the CNC’s support and assistance whenever they were called upon.
