Speaking at the launch, Mr Benjamin Ahorlu, Chairman of the Dansoman Keep Fit Club, expressed excitement over the return of the full marathon race, saying it would provide a platform to discover and develop long-distance running talent in Ghana.
“We are delighted to bring back the full marathon race as part of efforts to unearth more distance runners and improve the event further,” he said.
“Our vision is to develop talents, promote athletics in Ghana and position the country strongly on the international sporting landscape.”
Mr Ahorlu noted that the organisers were committed to raising the standards of the race to meet international expectations, with every participant set to receive a medal while outstanding performers would be rewarded with attractive prizes from sponsors.
According to him, the marathon had over the years produced athletes who had gone on to represent Ghana and excel on the international stage.
He said this year’s edition would feature enhanced security measures to ensure the safety of participants while providing a competitive environment for athletes to develop their abilities.

She noted that Blowchem Industries had partnered the Accra Marathon for the past four years and were pleased to continue supporting the initiative.
This year’s event is also being supported by several corporate organisations including Hollard Insurance, Indomie and Multi-Pro.
The Accra Marathon remains one of the country’s longest-running road races and continues to serve as a platform for talent identification, fitness promotion and athletics development.
