Takoradi, Sept. 24, GNA – Nana Kwesi Ansah, a former Western Regional First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says the party stands a better chance of reclaiming the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat if it presents Mr Fiifi Boafo as its candidate for the 2028 general election.
Mr Boafo is a former Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board.
Nana Ansah said presenting a new candidate was the surest way to energise the party’s grassroots and galvanise support to wrest the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview, he said: “I have engaged some influential people to see how we can reclaim the Tarkwa-Nsuaem seat from the National Democratic Congress, and the feedback was that we must not repeat our candidate who lost the seat in the 2024 election.
“From our interactions, they believe Fiifi Boafo will have the goodwill of the people and has higher chances of winning the seat, so I think we must present him for the contest against the NDC come 2028.”
Nana Ansah, therefore, urged NPP delegates in Tarkwa-Nsuaem to give Mr Boafo the opportunity to become the party’s parliamentary candidate for the 2028 general election.
“Our former candidate lost the seat as an incumbent Member of Parliament even after doing well for the constituents, but ask yourself why he still lost, and if we present him again, then we risk losing the seat for more years.
“So, I will encourage all of us to rally behind a new candidate and bring Fiifi Boafo because he connects very well with the people and can canvass the votes needed to win back the seat for the NPP,” he added.
