Accra, Sept. 03, GNA – Madam Christiana Ashley, Deputy Head of Marketing at the National Sports Authority has joined an influential global gathering of women leaders in sport as part of the 2026 Women’s Sport Leadership Academy (WSLA) in the United Kingdom.
The programme, held from 23 to 28 August 2026 at the University of Chichester, brought together accomplished women in sports from different countries, providing a platform for participants to strengthen their leadership capabilities.
Her participation highlights Ghana’s growing representation in international sports leadership programmes and underscores her commitment to professional development.
Madam Ashley, who doubles as the President of Ghana Chess Association said the programme represented both a significant professional development opportunity and a responsibility to transfer the knowledge and experience gained.
She described the experience as an opportunity to learn not only from facilitators, but also from fellow participants.
“I am leaving the programme with greater confidence, stronger self-awareness and a renewed commitment to supporting women and emerging leaders within sport.
The knowledge and relationships gained will not remain with me; I intend to share and apply them within my organisation and the wider sporting community,” She noted.
She expressed her sincere appreciation to the Women in Sports Commission, Ghana Olympic Committee, National Sports Authority and the International Olympic Committee for their confidence, nomination and support, which enabled her to participate in the international programme.
The 2026 Women’s Sport Leadership Academy explored five major leadership themes, including Belonging and Leadership Identity, Authentic Self, In Service of Others, Finding and Sharing My Leadership Story, and Daring Greatly.
These themes encouraged participants to reflect deeply on their values, leadership behaviours and responsibilities to the people and communities they serve.
