Bonkokor (Ash), Sept. 17, GNA – Mr. Abdullah Hamidu, the Bosomtwe District Chief Executive (DCE), has commissioned a four-bedroom, en-suite nurses’ quarters at Bonkokor to improve the living conditions of health personnel serving the community.
The facility, furnished with beds, mattresses and curtains, is expected to address the accommodation challenges faced by nurses and provide them with a more conducive environment to live and work.
Speaking at a short ceremony to hand over the facility to the health workers, Mr. Hamidu reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring equitable distribution of development projects across communities in the district based on their respective needs.
He said the Assembly would continue to utilise the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to provide essential infrastructure and improve residents’ access to basic services.
The DCE outlined some ongoing and upcoming projects being undertaken by the Assembly, including the construction of a Kindergarten block at Atafram and a three-unit classroom block with teachers’ accommodation at Boneagya.
He said the Assembly remained committed to improving living conditions and promoting development across the district.
Mr. Hamidu also commissioned a mechanised borehole for the community to help address water challenges and improve residents’ access to potable water.
The Chief of Abrankese Nyameani, Nana Opoku Amponsem II, expressed appreciation to the DCE and the Assembly for providing the nurses’ quarters and mechanised borehole.
He recalled that he had previously provided accommodation for nurses serving the community and expressed satisfaction that the community now had a dedicated facility for health personnel.
Nana Amponsem assured the Assembly that the facility would be properly maintained and urged the nurses to take good care of it.
Mrs. Sandra Kusi, the Public Health Officer of the Bosomtwe District, also expressed appreciation to the Assembly, saying the facility would significantly improve the working and living conditions of health personnel.
She said the provision of the accommodation could also help attract other health workers to the area.
Mrs. Kusi thanked the Assembly and other stakeholders for their contribution towards the provision of the facilities and assured them of the nurses’ commitment to maintaining the quarters and using them for their intended purpose.
