Nkonya (O/R), Sept 18, GNA – Madam Jean-Marie Formadi, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Biakoye, has supported more than 1,200 fresh Senior High School (SHS) students in the constituency with essential learning materials to facilitate their transition into secondary schools.
The items, which included school bags, chop boxes, exercise books and other educational materials, were presented to the beneficiaries as part of efforts to support students and ease some of the financial burden on parents and guardians.
The initiative is expected to assist the students in preparing adequately for their SHS education and encourage them to remain focused on their studies.
Speaking on the initiative, Madam Formadi said education remained critical to the development of young people and the socio-economic advancement of the constituency.
She urged parents and guardians to complement the support by taking an active interest in the education and welfare of their children.
Madam Formadi also encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make effective use of the opportunities available to them.
Mr Dickson Adom, Education Representative for Biakoye, advised the students to demonstrate discipline, commitment and determination throughout their secondary education.
He noted that while many young people gained admission to senior high schools, not all completed their education with the academic outcomes they aspired to, making commitment and hard work essential.
Mr Adom said the educational development of the youth was important to unlock the potential of the constituency and urged the beneficiaries to see the support as an opportunity to pursue academic excellence.
He also commended the collaboration between stakeholders in supporting education and encouraged parents, schools, community leaders and other stakeholders to continue working together to improve educational outcomes in the constituency.
Some beneficiaries and parents expressed appreciation for the support, saying the items would help ease the cost associated with preparing students for SHS.
The intervention forms part of broader efforts by stakeholders to support education and improve access to essential learning resources for young people in the Biakoye Constituency.
