Dambai (O/R), Sept 21, GNA – The Bassare Youth Association (BAYA) has elected new national executives to steer the affairs of the Association for the next two years.
Mr Toni JC Bakawu emerged president-elect after polling 211 votes to defeat Dr Enock Mani, who obtained 152 votes, while 11 ballots were rejected.
The election, held as part of the Association’s 2026 National Congress in Kpandai, attracted delegates from various communities and chapters of the Association.
Mr Romeo Jagri was elected Vice President with 108 votes, followed by madam Rahmatu B. Abdulai with 97 votes, Mr Gado Yakubu Ninsaw with 86 votes, Mr Gbande P. Issahaku with 51 votes and Mr Enoch B. Nkwantabisa with 23 votes. 27 ballots were rejected.
Mr Seth Nyantakyi Balaalah was elected General Secretary unopposed.
For the position of Deputy General Secretary, Mr Ninkabs Caesar Nambu secured 186 votes, followed by Mr Waake Mathias with 135 votes and Mr Alhassan Kwanyanne with 21 votes. 36 ballots were rejected.
Mr George Nbanyinkeh was elected Organizer with 160 votes, defeating Mr Jumiu H. Gbandi, who obtained 101 votes, and Mr Seidu Nyande polled 78 votes. 38 ballots were rejected.
For Deputy Organizer, Mr George Folikor emerged winner with 124 votes, followed by Ouno Gbandi with 84 votes, Mr Sani Nikabu Waponde with 89 votes, Mr Raymond Napoleon Nchamla with 31 votes and Mr Boundjoi N. Usman with 17 votes. 30 ballots were rejected.
Madam Nyamba Zara Imoro was elected Treasurer with 132 votes, defeating Mr Timothy Maniin, who polled 116 votes, with 35 ballots rejected.
Mr Emmanuel Kwame Changi was elected Deputy Treasurer unopposed, while madam Amama Mabel was also elected Deputy Women Organizer unopposed.
In the Women Organizer contest, Madam Hannah Kuyole emerged winner with 207 votes, defeating Madam Patience Sei, who obtained 132 votes, while 35 ballots were rejected.
The election formed part of the Association’s 2026 National Congress, which brought together members and delegates to deliberate on issues affecting the development, unity and welfare of the Bassare youth.
The newly elected executives are expected to provide leadership and direction to the Association during their two-year mandate, with a focus on promoting unity, youth development, cultural identity, and the welfare of members.
The congress also provided a platform for members to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the Association as a vehicle for advancing the interests and aspirations of Bassare youth.
The election was conducted through a competitive process for the contested positions, while some candidates were returned unopposed.
The new leadership is expected to work collaboratively with members and stakeholders to advance the objectives of BAYA and strengthen its programmes and activities across its various chapters.
