Banda-Boase, (Bono), Sept. 28, GNA-Hundreds of residents at Banda-Boase in the Banda District of the Bono Region have been screened for various health conditions.
Ligbi Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation initiated the free health screening exercise as part of activities outlined for the 2026 celebration of the annual yam festival of the chiefs and people of Banda-Boase.
Beneficiaries were screened for high blood pressure, diabetes, malaria, hepatitis ‘B’ and Body Mass Index (BMI during the event, which was supported by Odeefuor Dua Bata Bour Ligbi Worotie II, the Chief of Banda-Boase.
The Foundation also registered some of the residents onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and renewed the membership of others free of charge.
Odeefuor Worotie II, noted that a healthy community remained in the bedrock of development and urged the people to prioritise their health.
Mr Justice Opoku, the leader of the medical team, commended the people for the impressive turnout, adding that the exercise aligned with broader national efforts towards achieving the Universal Health Coverage.
Mr Kofi Takyi, a beneficiary, thanked the NGO for the support of renewing his NHIS membership which expired two years ago.
