Akatsi (VR), Sept. 8, GNA – Artcom Academy, a private basic school in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has recorded a 100 per cent performance in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), with all 20 candidates obtaining good grades that position them for placement in Senior High Schools.
The candidates recorded aggregates ranging from 13 to 29, reflecting the school’s strong tradition of academic excellence.
Mr Mawuko Noah, Proprietor of Artcom Academy, expressed satisfaction with the school’s latest performance, describing it as an indication of the commitment of the school’s management, teachers, pupils and parents to academic excellence.
He said the results were particularly encouraging and demonstrated the collective commitment of the school community to sustaining the culture of academic excellence for which Artcom Academy was noted.
Mr Noah said the school would continue to strengthen teaching and learning while providing the necessary support to enable pupils to develop their academic potential and compete effectively at subsequent levels of education.
Mr Karim Ayaana Umar, Director of Education for Akatsi South, said although the school’s performance was commendable, the Directorate currently had no comprehensive data on the performance of schools across the Municipality in the 2026 BECE.
He explained that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) was yet to provide the Directorate with data covering the performance of schools within the Municipality.
Mr Umar said the Directorate could, therefore, not at this stage determine how Artcom Academy’s performance compared with that of other schools in the Municipality.
The BECE is a certification and selection examination, and its results are used, among other considerations, in the placement of candidates into Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
The BECE results, therefore, should not be interpreted simply as a conventional pass-or-fail assessment.
Candidates are graded on a nine-point scale, with Grade 1 representing the highest performance and Grade 9 the lowest.
Artcom Academy’s latest performance nevertheless adds to its longstanding record of academic achievement, having over the years produced pupils who have excelled in national examinations and received recognition at the national level.
Established in 2003, the school has grown into a notable private basic educational institution in the Municipality, with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and the holistic development of pupils.
In 2014, the school was recognised among the top 10 private schools in Ghana for its academic performance, further strengthening its reputation in basic education.
The school has also produced pupils who have distinguished themselves at the national level.
In 2017, a pupil of the school received a Presidential Independence Day Award for outstanding academic performance.
In 2024, Master Theodore Akuamoah, a former pupil of Artcom Academy, was among students honoured at the Presidential Independence Day Awards for excellent performance in the 2023 BECE.
Master Akuamoah, then a first-year student at Mawuli Senior High School in Ho, was the only award recipient from the Volta Region at the ceremony, according to a Ghana News Agency report.
The latest results, with all 20 candidates obtaining good grades, therefore reinforce the school’s record of academic excellence and its contribution to basic education in the Akatsi South Municipality.
