Washington, Aug 13, (dpa/GNA) – Two US soldiers were killed on Wednesday, when an Apache attack helicopter crashed in Texas, according to the US army.
The US army’s Fort Hood base said the Apache, which was based at Fort Hood, crashed in the town of Salado. “Two Soldiers are confirmed deceased. Names are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin,” the army said in a statement.
The helicopter slammed into a field and caught fire, sparking a large, uncontrolled wildfire, broadcaster CNN reported. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the families, friends, and fellow Troopers of those involved during this incredibly difficult time,” acting commanding general Ethan Diven said in the statement.
