Takoradi retailers equipped with digital finance, customer service skills

Takoradi, Aug. 10, GNA – Some retailers in Takoradi have been equipped with practical business, financial literacy and customer service skills, aimed at helping them become resilient and profitable enterprises.  

The training  Programme, the second phase of MoMo’s MSME Capacity Building, Financial Literacy and Business Support initiative, targets 600 entrepreneurs across Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi and Tamale. 

The training focused on practical business management, financial literacy, digital tools, customer service, trade skills, access to credit, insurance and other financial products to strengthen the competitiveness of small businesses. 

Mr Prince Owusu Nyarko, the Senior Manager for Business Development at Mobile Money Fintech Limited noted the critical role of retailers in Ghana’s economy. 

He said MoMo has evolved beyond a payment platform into a business solution that enabled small businesses to receive digital payments, monitor transactions, improve accountability, build financial records and position themselves to access financing and other business support. 

He educated that adopting digital payment systems helped retailers reduce the risks associated with handling cash while, improving sales visibility, record-keeping and customer service. 

Mr Nyarko noted that their collaboration with UMB and Kola Market enhanced the banking expertise, digital commerce support and technology solutions to provide retailers with practical tools needed to expand their businesses. 

Mr Tubuor Ofei-Agyemang, the Head of E-Business at UMB, said the bank remained committed to expanding access to digital financial services for entrepreneurs. 

Mr Ofei-Agyemang said the bank would continue to support MSMEs through capacity-building initiatives as the success of small businesses contributed directly to the growth of the banking sector and the wider economy. 

Ms Eunice Annor, the Talent Manager at Mobile Money Fintech LTD, entreated business owners to place customer satisfaction at the centre of their operations for a successful enterprise. 

She called on retailers to maintain consistent working hours, clearly display product prices and leverage digital platforms and social media to strengthen customer engagement and loyalty. 

Madam Mabel Okine, a beneficiary noted how the practical lessons on customer relations, digital payments and financial management would help retailers in service delivery.
