Sunyani, (Bono), Aug 19, GNA – Three students from the Department of Architecture and Real Estate (DARE) of the Sunyani Technical University (STU) emerged winners of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Students Challenge.
The Challenge is an international competition hosted by the IFMA) and brings together students from facility management and related academic fields to solve real-world industry problems, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and present innovative solutions.
A statement issued by the University and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani said the challenge was held on the sidelines of the IFMA Global Conference held in Accra on August 12 and August 13, 2026.
The winners comprised Samuel Nyametiase, a Level 400 BTech Facilities Management, Priscilla Akurugu, a Level 300 BTech Facilities Management and Elija Owusu, a Level 100 BSc Real Estate student.
For their prize, they have been granted full sponsorship to participate in the next IFMA Global Conference to be held in Belgium.
It explained that they were among five students each drawn from three institutions, including the University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), and the Makerere University Business School of Uganda.
The statement indicated that achievement was a significant milestone for the students and the Department of Architecture and Real Estate, showcasing the calibre, competitiveness and global potential of STU students.
It added that the achievement highlighted the growing impact of STU’s training in facilities management and real estate and the institution’s dedication to equipping students with practical knowledge and competencies for professional and global opportunities.
The statement congratulated the winners and all the STU students who participated in the challenge, as well as the dedicated staff whose teaching, mentorship and support had contributed to the students’ success.
It mentioned Ernest Atta Sukar, Level 400 BTech Facilities Management, Osman Ra-ad, Level 400 BTech Facilities Management, and Adjouba Ayeba-Miezah, Level 100 BSc Architectural Technology as other students of the STU who participated in the challenge.
