Bolgatanga, Aug.1, GNA – Mr Cash-Abbey William, a philanthropist based in Tema, has paid the medical bills of seven patients receiving treatment at the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga.
The gesture marked the birthday of his female twins, who turned seven on Friday, July 31.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, after settling the bills, amounting to GH¢7,000.00, Mr William said the twins were delivered at the Upper East Regional Hospital after he and his family lost their first set of twins.
“We lost our first set of twins, and so this is like a blessing to us,” he said.
He said the donation was his family’s way of expressing gratitude for the blessing of their daughters and appreciation to humanity including the hospital staff.
Dr Joseph Kojo Tambil, the Medical Director of the Hospital, expressed gratitude to Mr William for the gesture, and called for support from individuals, corporate organisations, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to help sustain quality healthcare delivery at the hospital.
He noted that financing hospitals should not be the sole responsibility of the government and indicated the need for broader collaboration to enable the 265-bed referral facility to continue to provide efficient, high-quality healthcare services to the people of the Upper East Region and beyond.
Dr Tambil appealed to sons and daughters of the Upper East Region, both at home and abroad, corporate organisations and philanthropists to support the hospital in its efforts to improve healthcare delivery and enhance patient care.
