Obuasi (Ash), Aug. 7, GNA – Thirty-two students of Christ the King Catholic Senior High School (CKC), whose belongings were destroyed in a recent fire outbreak, have received relief items from the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly to help them continue their academic work without disruption.
The items were presented by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr William Kofi Adzowu, following a fire that gutted a section of the boys’ dormitory on July 22, 2026.
The blaze destroyed the students’ personal belongings, including books, bedding, clothing and other essential items, leaving many of them with only the school uniforms they were wearing during evening prep.
Presenting the items at the school, Mr Adzowu described the incident as unfortunate and assured the affected students of the Assembly’s support.
“What happened here is truly regrettable, but I want to encourage you all not to lose focus on your academic goals.
“These items are presented to replace what was lost to the flames and to give you peace of mind so you can concentrate fully on your studies,” he stated.
The relief items included metal trunks, wooden chop boxes, mattresses, buckets, toiletries, essential provisions and school uniforms.
Mr Adzowu also advised students to adhere to safety regulations in the dormitories and avoid the use of unauthorised electrical appliances and illegal wiring connections to prevent similar incidents.
The donation brought relief to the affected students, many of whom had depended on classmates for clothing and other necessities since the fire outbreak.
Master Philip Kyei, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the MCE for the timely intervention.
“God bless our MCE so much for thinking of us so quickly. His gesture truly proves that he is a father for all,” he said.
He noted that since the incident, some affected students had borrowed clothes from friends to enable them attend classes and school assemblies.
School authorities also expressed gratitude to Mr Adzowu and the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly for the support, describing the intervention as timely and helpful in restoring normalcy for the affected students.
