Ampain (WR), Aug. 06, GNA – The Nzema Maanle Traditional Council has held a multi-stakeholder general meeting to discuss pertinent issues bothering on the overall development of the entire Nzema area.
The meeting brought together traditional rulers, companies, security agencies, District Assemblies, Assembly Members, the media, and interest groups to render their stewardship to the Council.
Highlights of the discussions centred on the current status of the Nzema Maanle Complex facility and its official handover to the Council, developmental initiatives in Nzemaland, and the creation of employment opportunities for the youth of Nzema Maanle.
Other issues discussed were improving educational standards in Nzema and addressing the decline in the teaching and use of the Nzema language in schools, the rise of ghettos and drug-related activities in Nzema communities and possible solutions, as well as the planning, coordination, and implementation of the proposed “Nkabomu Festival” (Avuyia) as the grand climax of the Kundum festival celebrations.
Addressing the meeting, Awulae Attibrukusu III, Acting President of the Nzema Maanle Council, called on traditional rulers, politicians, religious leaders, interest groups, and all others to forge ahead in unity and give peace a chance for accelerated development.
He said without unity, their forward march to development could not be realised.
Awulae Attibrukusu III, who is also the Paramount Chief of the Lower Axim Traditional Area, said disunity among traditional rulers and the youth of the Nzema area had deprived them of opportunities in the oil and gas sector as well as mining companies in the area.
The Paramount Chief said as indigenes of the oil find and other mining companies, their youth were entitled to employment opportunities and scholarship packages.
Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, Paramount Chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, also added his voice to the calls for unity among Paramount Chiefs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, the youth, and all interest groups to put their differences behind and unite for accelerated development.
He assured the Council of bringing his expertise to bear on the goals set before it.
