Accra, Aug. 20, GNA – The National Vaccine Institute (NVI) has launched an interactive website to improve public access to vaccine information and services.

The platform provides information on vaccines, allows users to report adverse effects following vaccination and helps them locate vaccination centres.

Dr Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey, Executive Director of the NVI, said the platform was developed to strengthen the Institute’s engagement with the public and provide a reliable source of information on its activities.

He said although the Institute had been working on the website for some time, public comments on social media reinforced the need to make it available.

“We’ve put together what we think is an interactive website,” he said during the official launch in Accra as part of the “Research Meets Manufacturing” awards ceremony.

Dr Sodzi-Tettey said the website included a portal for reporting adverse effects following vaccination.

Users could select the vaccine received, provide the date of vaccination, indicate their symptoms and submit reports through the portal.

The system would generate a tracking number for users to monitor the status of their reports and receive feedback.

Dr Sodzi-Tettey said the platform also featured a vaccine-centre locator to enable users to identify vaccination centres within a specified radius of their location.

“I’m just inviting you to check out the website, interact with it, and send us feedback on how we can improve it,” he said.

Dr Sodzi-Tettey said the Institute had also established social media handles to complement the website and facilitate regular communication with the public.

He said the initiative formed part of broader efforts to use innovation and technology to improve the delivery of the Institute’s mandate.

Dr Sodzi-Tettey said the platform would make it easier for the public to access vaccine information, locate vaccination services and raise concerns about vaccine safety.

He urged the public to explore the website’s features and provide feedback to help the Institute improve its services.
