Kumasi, Aug. 10 GNA – The Nkawie Divisional Police Command has arrested Francis Nsiah in connection with an attempted armed robbery incident on the Hiakose-Nweneso road, near Manso Nkwanta, in the Amansie West district of the Ashanti region.
Nsiah, 25, was arrested on Friday, August 07, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m, when the Nkawie Divisional Operations Patrol Team received information on an ongoing armed robbery incident along the road between Hiakose and Nweneso.
The Police immediately proceeded to the location, and upon approaching the scene, the officers heard gunshots and observed one of the suspected robbers fleeing into a nearby bush with a bag.
The officers pursued the suspect, while a search of the area subsequently led to the recovery of an iPhone 14 and a bag believed to belong to some of the victims.
In a press release issued and signed by DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of Ashanti Regional Police Command, said the Police later received information that one of the suspected robbers had sought medical treatment at a medical facility of gunshot wounds.
The statement noted that officers proceeded to the facility, where they arrested Francis Nsiah, who was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his buttock.
The suspect is currently under police guard and receiving medical treatment, the statement said
The Police said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify and apprehend other persons who might have been involved in the incident.
