Prampram, Aug. 07, GNA – The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA) has completed and initiated several educational infrastructure projects aimed at improving teaching and learning across the district.
Mr Raphael Uriel Nartey, the Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive (DCE), said completed projects included classroom facilities for Afienya D/A Basic School and Kpatsremidor D/A Basic School, as well as a 12-seater toilet facility for the Prampram Cluster of Schools.
Presenting the sessional address at a General Assembly meeting, he said construction of an additional classroom block at Lakpleku School had reached about 80 per cent completion.
He added that ongoing classroom projects at Dawhenya South and Prampram D/A ‘A’ schools had attained 60 per cent and 70 per cent completion, respectively.
Mr Nartey said the Assembly had also procured classroom furniture, including dual desks, teachers’ tables and chairs, lockers and bookshelves, to enhance the teaching and learning environment in schools.
He said the interventions were expected to improve access to quality education and create a more conducive atmosphere for effective learning.
The DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to investing in educational infrastructure and other initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education in the district.
Touching on the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Mr Nartey said the district recorded a 15 per cent increase in candidate enrolment compared with the 2025 figure.
According to him, 4,447 candidates from 168 schools sat for the examination at 14 centres. The candidates comprised 2,152 boys and 2,295 girls.
He said the Assembly, in collaboration with education authorities, ensured the smooth conduct of the examination by providing adequate security, appropriate seating arrangements and the necessary logistics.
Mr Nartey assured stakeholders that the Assembly would continue to invest in educational infrastructure and learning materials to improve academic outcomes and support the development of quality human capital in the district.
