Nsuta-Buem (O/R), Aug. 18, GNA – Mr Krobea Asante, the Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has charged the newly elected Oti Regional executives of the Party to work towards regaining power in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Asante urged the executives to unite and work towards strengthening the Party’s support base in the Region ahead of the elections.
He said unity among the regional executives was critical to the Party’s efforts to regain the confidence of the electorate.
Mr Asante, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency at Nsuta-Buem in the Jasikan Municipality, urged them to put the interest of the Party above individual interests and work together to mobilise more supporters and votes for the NPP in 2028.
The new executives were Dr Frank Yirenkyi, the Regional Chairman; Mr Stephen Benyaseh Alewaba, First Vice-Chairman; Mr Derrick Mensah Bonsu, Second Vice-Chairman; Dr Frank Awuah, Secretary; Mr Abubakar Adams, Assistant Secretary; and Mr Nicholas Baafi Boadi, Treasurer.
The others are Mr Emmanuel Kwaku Obonda, Organiser; Ms Olivia Yawa Aglago, Women’s Organiser; Mr Shaibu Mohammed Habibu, Nasara Coordinator; Mr Seidu Musah, Communications Officer; and Mr Prince Kwadwo Amanor, Youth Organiser.
Dr Yirenkyi, in his acceptance speech, pledged to provide united and effective leadership to enable the Party to achieve its objectives in the Region.
He said the election was over and there was now the need for all members and supporters to come together as one family and work towards victory in the 2028 general elections.
He appealed to members who contested the various positions but were unsuccessful in supporting the new regional executives in building a stronger Party in the Region.
The election, which attracted 214 of the 216 expected delegates, was conducted peacefully and without major incidents.
A total of 30 candidates contested 11 positions in the regional executive elections.
Dr Yirenkyi defeated the incumbent Regional Chairman, Mr Evans Yaw Dapaah, by 83 votes to 71 to become the new Oti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Hajia Sherifa Selina Sekyere-Tijani and Mr Ahenkora Collins Yaw secured 60 and zero votes, respectively, to place third and fourth.
