Takoradi ( W/R), Aug.10, GNA – The Western Regional branch of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) has held its second quadrilateral youth conference in Takoradi in the Western Region.
The conference which was on the theme: “building on the past; empowering the future,” was used to honour hardworking cadres and patrons whose sacrifices had contributed to the victory and successes of the party.
The conference also enabled them to mark a reflection on the party’s journey, sacrifices and victory towards the development of Ghana.
It was attended by Ministers, Members of Parliament, MMDCEs,Chief Executive Officers, students, Directors, patrons as well as NDC cadres .
Mr Boakye Yiadom, the TEIN Patron at the Takoradi Technical University ( TTU) who hosted the conference, reminded NDC appointees to eschew “selfishness and let their positions trickle down to other supporters of the party.”
He said there were people serving in the government who had not worked for the party which was a source of demotivation to party supporters.
Mr Yiadom asked the party hierarchy to do due diligence before appointments were given to some people.
Alhaji Mustapha Iddrisu, the Western Regional Youth Organiser paid tribute to dynamic patrons of the TEIN, Western Region, such as Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Mr Totobi Kwakye and Professor Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah.
He said the conference had come to stay to honour those who laid the foundation of the youth wing, adding that from his predecessors, they had built a dynamic, disciplined and well-organised youth wing of the party.
Alhaji Iddrisu said TEIN remained a formidable force and one of the strongest pillars of the NDC, which played an active role in the 2024 victory, to capture 15 out of the 17 seats in the Western Region.
He therefore, called on the party hierarchy to empower the youth with opportunities such as scholarship schemes, job opportunities and apprenticeship training programmes.
Alhaji Iddrisu urged leadership of the party to address concerns of the grassroots especially those who contributed to the electoral victory.
Mr Osman Abdulai Ayariga, the Deputy National Youth Organiser of the NDC, urged the youth to continue to trumpet President John Dramani Mahama’s success story since he assumed office last year.
He said the government recognised the sacrifices made by the youth of the party and would fix them in employment.
Mr Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communication Officer of the NDC, said the government had kept faith with Ghanaians by reducing the price of the dollar to the cedi, reduced price of fuel.
He said the government had also implemented the free-fees policy of first year students at the University.
He assured the youth to rally behind the party as opportunities awaited them.
