Kumasi Aug. 04, GNA – MTN Ghana says it is strengthening investments in digital services, fibre broadband and mobile financial solutions to accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation, while providing customers with convenient and innovative services.
Nii Adotey Mingle, the General Manager for MTN Ghana’s Northern Business District, said the company’s strategy was to place more digital tools in the hands of customers, enabling them to access a wide range of services through digital platforms without visiting physical service centres.
He was speaking during a panel discussion at the MTN Ghana Media and Stakeholder Forum held in Kumasi.
Mr Mingle said customers could now perform several activities on the MyMTN App, including acquiring SIM cards, paying utility bills, purchasing airtime and data bundles, and accessing other digital services from the comfort of their homes.
“We are putting the power in the hands of the consumer, from acquiring a SIM card to paying bills and accessing our services, everything can be done on the app,” he said.
He described the approach as part of MTN’s innovation drive to make digital services more convenient and accessible to customers.
On customer experience, Mr Mingle said MTN had developed segmented products tailored to meet the needs of different customer groups, including students, young people and participants in major cultural festivals across the country.
He cited university students as one of the key beneficiaries, noting that the company had introduced packages that provided affordable data and airtime to support their academic work and digital engagement on campuses.
Mr Mingle attributed the continued growth in MTN’s customer base to the company’s investment in service quality and customer-centred digital solutions.
Touching on home connectivity, he said changing work patterns and increased demand for online services had made reliable broadband connectivity more important than ever.
He said the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the shift towards working from home, increasing the need for dependable internet services.
“Once fibre is available and customers are connected, they can enjoy high-speed internet for virtually every online activity,” he stated.
Mr Mingle said the company’s investments in fibre infrastructure formed part of its ambition to accelerate the digital future by supporting digital lifestyles and business growth.
On mobile money, he said MTN MoMo had evolved beyond cash transfers to become a platform that empowered individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses.
He explained that the platform had created employment opportunities for mobile money agents while enabling businesses to receive payments, settle transactions, and conduct commerce electronically.
He said entrepreneurs could leverage the platform to grow their businesses, while individuals could conveniently make payments and conduct financial transactions using their mobile phones.
