Accra, Aug. 6, GNA – Ghanaian clubs Medeama Sporting Club and Nations FC have discovered their opponents for the preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 Confederation of African Football (CAF) inter-club competitions.

Medeama SC, who would represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League, have been handed a difficult tie against Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe in the preliminary round.

The Tarkwa-based club would be seeking to revive their continental ambitions against one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, with the winner of the two-legged encounter advancing to face either Club Africain of Tunisia or Mali’s Djoliba AC in the next round.

Defending MTN FA Cup champions Nations FC would begin their maiden CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a preliminary-round clash against Mali’s FC Diarra.

The draw presents the Abrankese-based club with an opportunity to make an impressive start to life in continental football despite being relegated to Division One League.

Should Nations FC overcome FC Diarra over the two-legged tie, they would face the winner of the fixture between AS Zam of Niger and ASKO de Kara of Togo in the subsequent round.

Both Ghanaian clubs would be hoping to make positive starts to their respective continental campaigns and progress beyond the preliminary stages.

CAF is expected to announce the dates and venues for the preliminary-round fixtures in the coming days.
