Tarkwa (W/R), Aug. 8, GNA – The Coalition of Parents of Students in Private Institutions (COPOSIPI) has urged the Minister of Education and Parliament to urgently address concerns raised by private schools over the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
The association said private educational institutions had, over the years, made significant contributions to Ghana’s educational development by complementing government’s efforts, producing outstanding academic results, creating employment and expanding access to quality education.
In a statement signed by Dr Simon Gbene, Executive Secretary of COPOSIPI, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the association said such contributions to national development should be protected and strengthened.
It said as concerned parents, they believed that credible concerns surrounding the BECE results required a fair, transparent and independent review to maintain public confidence in Ghana’s education system.
The group therefore called on the Minister of Education, Parliament, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and appropriate examination authorities to engage all stakeholders and resolve the concerns promptly and objectively.
“As a nation, we must avoid actions that undermine institutions that have consistently contributed to educational excellence,” the statement added.
It said, “We should not kill the hen that lays the golden eggs on the altar of jealousy or a ‘pull them down’ mentality. Instead, let us encourage healthy competition, fairness and equal opportunities for every school and every child.”
The Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies that promoted transparency, merit and excellence in education for the benefit of all Ghanaian children.
The statement further appealed to all stakeholders to work together to preserve the integrity of the educational system and build a strong future for the nation.
