GIPA launches network to resolve investor concerns

Accra, Aug. 24, GNA – The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has launched a network to speed up the resolution of investor concerns involving government institutions.

The Focal Persons Network (FPN) comprises two senior officers each from more than 80 ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), providing direct channels between GIPA, investors and relevant institutions.

Mr Abdul Razak Baba, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIPA, said the network would address operational concerns relating to taxes, customs, immigration, permits, licences, utilities and land.

He said Ghana’s progress in restoring macroeconomic stability presented an opportunity to attract and retain investments to create jobs and support sustainable economic growth.

Mr Baba said GIPA’s engagements with investors had identified operational challenges requiring the intervention of relevant MDAs and regulatory bodies.

“This is precisely why we are establishing the Focal Persons Network. By designating officers within our partner institutions, we are creating direct points of contact to facilitate the expeditious resolution of investor concerns,” he said.

Mr Baba said the focal persons would direct investors’ concerns to the appropriate technical units, facilitate engagements and provide GIPA with timely feedback.

Mr Charles Opoku-Mensah, Head of the Aftercare and Investor Grievance Division at GIPA, said the authority’s objective was to retain existing investments and encourage reinvestment and expansion.

He said GIPA engaged about 1,100 investors in 2025, identified 58 issues and resolved about 31 per cent of them.

Mr Opoku-Mensah said during the first half of 2026, the authority recorded 1,028 investor engagements, with a 56 per cent resolution rate.

He said most resolved cases involved operational issues, adding that the new network would help prevent investor disputes from escalating into litigation.

“We don’t want to be operating in silos any longer. We want to be working together to help create an enabling environment to achieve the vision of the President and the government at the end of the day,” he said.

Mr Opoku-Mensah said the network was expected to improve the turnaround time for resolving investor concerns, with cases targeted for resolution within three months.

“Within three months, we should be able to work with any of the State institutions that it’s related to, and when we come to a conclusion, within 10 days we should be able to communicate the solution to the investor,” he said.
