The figure represents an increase from the 1,288,804 international tourist arrivals recorded in 2024.
Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, disclosed this on Monday in Accra when she took her turn at the Government Accountability Series.
She said domestic tourism also recorded growth, increasing from 1.68 million visits in 2024 to 1.79 million visits in 2025, representing a seven per cent increase.
The Minister said the 10 most visited tourist attractions in the country attracted a combined 1,377,588 visitors in 2025, accounting for about 77 per cent of all domestic tourism site visits nationwide.

On employment in the hospitality sector, Madam Gomashie said the average total workforce of star-rated hotels in Ghana was now 101 staff per hotel.
She said this comprised an average of 80 full-time staff, including 39 males and 41 females, and 21 temporary staff, comprising 12 males and nine females.
The Minister said licensed tourism enterprises increased from 6,702 in 2024 to 7,109 in 2025, representing a growth of 6.1 per cent.

The food, beverage and entertainment sector increased from 814 to 881 enterprises, representing 8.2 per cent growth, while trade and travel enterprises rose from 678 to 804, representing an 18.6 per cent increase.
Madam Gomashie said the figures demonstrated the contribution of tourism to economic activity, employment and national development.
“It is important to note that the expansion in travel trade enterprises, which recorded 18.6% growth suggests the growth in the ecosystem of tour operators, travel agencies, destination services, excursion businesses and tourism intermediaries promoting job creation and employment.”
