Gbi Kpoeta to get CHPS compound

By Edward Williams, GNA

Hohoe (V/R), Aug. 19, GNA – Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe Constituency and Mr Prosper Kumi, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), have cut sod for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Gbi Kpoeta.

in the Hohoe Municipality to enhance quality healthcare delivery.

The facility, expected to be completed in six months, would meet the health demands of the community and also reduce pressure on the Volta Regional Hospital, Hohoe.

When completed, it will have an Out Patients’ Department, wards, a laboratory, consulting room, recovery room and other facilities which will add up to the existing health facility at Gbi Kpoeta for its upgrade to a health centre status.

Mr Tsekpo said the distance between the Regional Hospital and Gbi Kpoeta required that there was a health facility that would address urgent and immediate health concerns.

He noted that statuses of health facilities would improve in the Constituency with plans for the construction of a new Regional Hospital, upgrading of CHPS Compounds while building new ones.

Mr Tsekpo said health of constituents was paramount, hence expanding facilities across the constituency was the best to be done.

He noted that CHPS compounds brought health closer to the people, adding that beyond the health needs, other concerns regarding access to potable water would be resolved with the provision of a borehole for the community.

Mr Kumi noted that all projects completed, being undertaken and to be initiated were projects being done collaboratively with the MP to ensure that development was spread across the Municipality.

He said the road networks in the Municipality, especially the Eastern Corridor Road, were receiving the needed attention it deserved while repair works on streetlights were going to resume.

Mr Kumi said the Municipality was going to benefit from the government’s Farmer Service Centre, which would begin soon to support farmers.

He said issues of sanitation were important in the Municipality and admonished residents to always make sure they participated in activities aimed at keeping the environment and their surroundings clean.

Mr Kumi urged the residents to fulfil their obligations to the Assembly through payment of rates to enable the Assembly to generate funds for more development works.

Togbe Gblahede III, on behalf of Togbe Adom Dake X, Divisional Chief of Gbi Kpoeta, expressed gratitude to the MP and MCE for the development of projects in the Constituency.

He appealed that the Electoral Area under which Gbi Kpoeta fell was very big and should be divided.

The MP also donated 50 bags of fertilizer to farmers within the Gbi Kpoeta community.

Mr Newton Darkey, Hohoe NDC Constituency Chairman, urged that the fertiliser be distributed to hardworking farmers.

He noted that the support would enable farmers to improve their agricultural production as well as yield more crops.
