Asebu (C/R), Aug 23, GNA- The chiefs and people of Asebu Traditional Area in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK), District of the Central Region have launched their Apayamkese Festival on the theme: “Development of Asebuman is a collective responsibility; Don’t sit on the fence.”
It will commence on Monday, November 23 to Sunday, 29 with activities including quiz competition, health screening, football competition, beauty contest, among others and a grand durbar to climax the festival.
Nana Okatakyi Amanfi VII, Omanhen of Asebu Traditional Area called on indigenes of the land to support the development of Asebuman with their contributions and expertise.
He took the opportunity to appeal to the Assembly to renovate and expand all existing markets in the district in place of a 24-hour economy market which will be located at one place.
Mr Daniel Mensah Wardy, District Chief Executive (DCE), outlined several projects completed by the government which included school buildings, health facilities, washrooms and several others.
He called on the elders of Asebu to rally behind the government to build an ultra-modern Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) Office at Asebu to stimulate the town.
Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament for AAK together with the DCE donated an amount of GH¢10,000.00 to support the festival.
