Kpetoe, Aug. 25, GNA – Mr Charles Agbeve, Member of Parliament (MP) for Agotime-Ziope, has initiated measures to improve telecommunications network coverage in underserved communities across the constituency.
The initiative follows the identification of five priority areas requiring enhanced network connectivity, including the Batume Junction-Akpokorpe enclave, where residents have long faced challenges in accessing reliable telecommunications services.
As part of the initiative, Mr Agbeve, accompanied by Mr Alfred Eklu Odikro, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agotime-Ziope, inspected an ongoing telecommunications mast project at Batume Junction on Sunday, August 23.
The project involves the construction of a 50-metre telecommunications mast designed to host both MTN and Telecel network infrastructure to boost coverage and service reliability in the area.
The facility, expected to be completed within six months, will serve Batume, Akpokorpe and surrounding communities.
The improved network infrastructure is expected to enhance communication services for residents, businesses, farmers, students and other users, while supporting economic and social activities within the beneficiary communities.
Mr Agbeve said reliable digital connectivity remained crucial to community development, particularly at a time when telecommunications services played a vital role in education, commerce, banking and access to information.
He noted that improving network coverage would help bridge the digital divide and provide residents with greater opportunities to participate in the digital economy.
The MP said the project formed part of broader efforts to address network challenges in underserved communities across the Agotime-Ziope Constituency and ensure equitable access to telecommunications services.
He expressed optimism that the project would contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the area upon completion.
