Accra, Aug. 13, GNA – Adamus Resources Limited has rejected the revocation of its mining leases by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, describing the decision as unlawful and procedurally improper.
The company, in a statement signed by its Group Human Resources and Administration Manager, Mr Alex Obu‑Simpson, said it received the decision with “shock and disappointment.”
Adamus Resources Limited said the Minister’s decision to revoke its mineral rights was taken without regard to statutory procedures prescribed under the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703).
“The effort by the Minister to strip Adamus Resources Limited of its mineral rights was without regard to any of the statutory procedures laid down in the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703),” it said.
The company categorically denied all allegations levelled against it in connection with the revocation of its leases, describing them as “unfounded, contrived and deliberately manufactured,” and alleging they were intended to strongarm the company and deprive it of its mining leases.
Adamus said it had taken note of what it described as an abuse of power in the process leading to the revocation of its leases, adding that the decision demonstrated “absolute disregard of law” in the process undertaken.
The company maintained that the revocation was baseless and indicated its determination to challenge the decision.
It said it would take appropriate steps to contest the revocation and ensure its position was properly presented to the relevant authorities and the public.
“The good people of Ghana will be apprised of the cogent steps the company is taking to shred this baseless revocation in the coming days,” the statement said.
Adamus Resources reaffirmed its rejection of the allegations against it and maintained that the revocation of its leases did not follow the procedures required by law.
The company said it remained committed to pursuing the matter through the appropriate channels to protect its interests and mineral rights.
