KATHMANDU, Aug. 4 (Xinhua/GNA) – Three people have gone missing after a car was knocked off a highway, and plunged into the Sunkoshi River in Nepal’s central Sindhuli District on Monday, a police official said.
The accident occurred at around noon local time along the Mid-Hill Highway, when a bus traveling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga hit the car.
“The car plunged about 50 feet into the Sunkoshi River,” Bijay Shrestha, spokesperson at the District Police Office in Sindhuli, told Xinhua.
The bus driver has been taken into police custody for investigation.
Police have launched a search and rescue operation, with divers deployed to search the river for the missing vehicle and the people on board.
