Accra, Aug. 13, GNA – Ten people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a collision between a tipper truck and a Sprinter bus at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
The accident occurred on Thursday morning and resulted in multiple casualties, with eyewitnesses reporting several passengers trapped inside the vehicles. Emergency personnel were continuing rescue and recovery operations at the time of filing this report.
Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Alex King Nartey, a member of the National Communications Team of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency.
He said GNFS personnel were at the scene managing the situation and undertaking rescue operations.
Eyewitnesses described the impact as severe, with several passengers seriously injured.
Mr Nartey said the accident was also expected to cause significant traffic congestion in the area as emergency services worked to clear the scene and assist victims.
Further details are expected as emergency authorities assess the situation.
