Wenchi delegates elect contractor as NPP Constituency Chairman

Wenchi, (Bono), July 13, GNA – Mr Kwasi Bonsu, a contractor, has been elected as the Wenchi constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region. 
 
Popularly known in the political circle as ‘Alatuba’, Mr Bonsu polled 528 valid votes to unseat Mr Awudu Ali, the incumbent chairman who had 248 votes with Mr Richard Kwadwo Adu his keen contender obtaining 403 votes. 
 
The election was conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) and held at the Wenchi Jubilee Park over the weekend. 
 
The constituency elections held in Wenchi saw 27 candidates aspiring to be elected as constituency executives of the NPP party. 
 
Mr Jabiru Mohamed also obtained 782 votes to secure the First Vice Chair position, beating his only contender Mr Sualiu Bamba who had 389 votes. 
 
The Second Vice Chair position went to Mrs Comfort Asamoah, a former constituency women’s organizer, who amassed 434 votes beating Asare Gyasi, 249 votes, Ebenezer Kwadwo Gyan, 282 votes and Francisca Gyamaa, 214 votes. 
 
Mr Abdul Rahman Suwaari Ibrahim, the incumbent constituency secretary retained his position with 677 votes, defeating his only contender, Mr Joseph Yaw Mensah polling 504 votes. 
 
Mr Richmond Abrefah Agyemang also won the Assistant Secretary position with 666 votes beating Mr Amos Kofi Osei, 324 votes and Mr Gabriel Gyasi Yeboah, 190 votes. 
 
For the Women Organiser slot, Mrs Dorothy Agyeiwaa, the Assembly Member for Akonkontiwam Electoral Area secured the position with 651 votes, defeating Mrs Millicent Kyeremaa, 526 votes 
 
The Constituency Organizer position also went to Mr Richmond Sarfo who had 478 votes to beat his challengers, Mr Simon Kyeremeh, 265 votes, Mr James Kwasi Oduro Asare 242 votes and Mr Idris Mahama 190 votes. 
 
Mr Stephen Ahenakwa also secured Constituency Youth Organizer position with 504 votes, defeating Alhaji Yakubu Watirigi, 373 votes and Mr Williams Effah, 304 votes 
 
The Constituency Treasurer position went to Mrs Rabiatu Abdulai amassing 639 votes to beat her sole contender, Mr John Kwaakye Ameyaw who had 540 votes. 
 
Incumbent Yakubu Dauda and Hannatu Uthman were also elected as the Nasaara Organizer and Communication Officer by unopposed. 
 
A total of 1,185 delegates drawn from 148 polling stations spread across 29 electoral areas were expected to cast their ballots in the constituency elections.
