Accra, July 30, GNA – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates.
The Council withheld the subject results of 2,722 candidates from 229 schools, cancelled the entire results of 105 candidates and cancelled the subject results of 496 candidates over examination irregularities.
The details were contained in a statement issued by Mr John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, WAEC.
The statement said the Council had also withheld the entire results of 48 candidates and the subject results of 119 candidates pending the outcome of investigations.
“The withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations by August 31, 2026,” it said.
WAEC said the decisions followed investigations into cases of examination irregularities detected during the conduct of the examination and the marking of scripts.
It said the decisions were approved at the 37th Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee for the BECE, 2026, held on July 21, 2026.
The Council advised candidates whose results had been cancelled or withheld to access visit http://irreg.waecgh.gh for information on their cases.
“They will be redirected to the irregularity and investigations page. This page will display reasons for withholding or cancelling the results. For withheld results, the candidates will receive information on the next line of action.
“Heads of school and proprietors may follow the same procedure using their results listing logins to know the status of withheld results of their candidates,” it said.
WAEC cautioned candidates and the public against individuals who claimed they could upgrade examination results for a fee.
“Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated,” the statement said.
The Council said the results of school candidates would be dispatched to their respective schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education.
It said candidates who wished to access their results online could do so through the Council’s official results portal.
A total of 620,243 candidates, comprising 304,415 males and 315,828 females from 20,789 schools, registered for the examination, while 3,601 candidates were absent.
