Turkey coordinating Ukraine peace process with US – Source

Ankara, July 27 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – Turkey continues to keep the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine on its agenda and maintains contacts with the United States on this matter, a diplomatic source in Ankara told RIA Novosti on Monday.

Turkey has repeatedly acted as a mediator between Moscow and Kiev. In 2022, the first face-to-face Russian-Ukrainian talks took place in Istanbul, and later, the Black Sea grain initiative was reached with the mediation of Ankara and the United Nations.

In recent months, the Turkish leadership has repeatedly stated its readiness to once again provide a platform for direct negotiations between the parties.

“The issue of resolving the Ukrainian conflict remains on our agenda. We are maintaining the necessary contacts on this topic, including with the United States,” the source said.

Earlier this month, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is open to achieving its goals through political and diplomatic negotiations, but the Kiev regime is not inclined to a peace process.
