Ten people injured following Ukrainian drone attack on Crimea

Moscow, July 27 (dpa/GNA) – A Ukrainian drone injured ten civilians in the east of the Crimean Peninsula on Monday, according to the Russian occupying authorities.

The drone struck a five-storey residential building in the city of Kerch at around 2 pm (1200 GMT), said Olga Kurlaeva, an adviser to Sergei Aksyonov, the region’s Moscow-appointed governor.

A fire broke out on the third and fourth floors, and a child was among the injured, Kurlaeva wrote on Telegram. Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed Crimea back in 2014 and has been using the peninsula since 2022 as a staging area and supply base for his war against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military frequently attacks targets in Crimea, most recently focusing on energy facilities, and this is also increasingly resulting in civilian casualties on the peninsula.  The extent of the damage and the number of casualties are, however, disproportionate to the destruction wrought by Russia.
