Takoradi, July 14, GNA – Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi, has encouraged the people to make cleanliness around their surroundings a daily habit to help stem flooding and other environmental issues.
He said this when he joined the people of Takoradi, including the youth, women, and other residents to undertake a clean-up exercise as part of the government’s national general clean-up campaign.
They cleaned gutters, cleared refuse, and desilted clogged drains among other activities within the Takoradi Constituency.
Mr Darko-Mensah said a clean environment was vital in ensuring a healthy society for all and asked the residents to adopt the culture of regular general clean-up exercises around their surroundings to achieve that aim.
He expressed his commitment to lead his constituents to undertake such exercises beyond the occasional organisation of clean-up exercises.
“A clean Takoradi is a healthy Takoradi, so I urge all of us to support the government’s efforts to keep our city clean by cleaning every day, as I stated in Parliament,” the MP added.
