Sogakope (V/R), July 31, GNA – Ms Victoria Dzeklo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for South Tongu, has inspected ongoing health and education infrastructure projects across the district to ensure quality delivery, adherence to approved standards and timely completion.
The exercise, undertaken with technical officers from the South Tongu District Assembly Works Department, the District Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service and the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, formed part of the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen project oversight and ensure value for money.
The team visited the Agorgbe Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound and the Lolito/Nyinuito CHPS Compound, both expected to improve access to primary healthcare services in the beneficiary communities.
The delegation also inspected a three-unit classroom block, an integrated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory and a library under construction at Atsieve D.A. Basic School to enhance teaching and learning.
At Lakpo, the team assessed progress on a three-unit Junior High School classroom block with ancillary office spaces, which is nearing completion.
Speaking after the inspection, Ms Dzeklo expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and commended the contractors, technical teams and stakeholders for their commitment.
She said the Assembly remained committed to investing in strategic social infrastructure to address critical development needs and improve access to essential services.
“The Assembly will continue to strengthen monitoring and supervision of development projects to ensure they are delivered according to specifications, within the required timelines and in a manner that provides lasting benefits to the people,” she said.
Ms Dzeklo described improved healthcare infrastructure and quality educational facilities as key to sustainable development, human capital development and the socio-economic advancement of the district.
She urged contractors to maintain the required construction standards and expedite work to facilitate the timely completion and operationalisation of the projects.
Officials of the Assembly’s Works Department assured the DCE that continuous technical monitoring would be undertaken to ensure compliance with approved designs, quality standards and project schedules.
Residents of the beneficiary communities welcomed the projects, describing them as important investments that would improve access to healthcare and provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
They thanked the Assembly and other stakeholders for prioritising the projects and appealed for their timely completion.
