Moscow, July 7 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – Russia commended the African Union’s fair and impartial stance on the situation in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.
“I would like to once again express my gratitude to our African colleagues, and personally to the Chairman, for their balanced and objective position on the Ukrainian crisis and everything surrounding it. At the UN, African delegations, representatives of the African Union, and the African Union Commission have demonstrated an understanding of what is happening and a willingness to delve into the essence of it, rather than viewing everything solely through the prism of Western propaganda,” Lavrov said during talks with the head of the African Union Commission Mahamoud Ali Youssouf.
On Tuesday, Lavrov held political consultations with Youssouf in Addis Ababa. The two sides held a detailed exchange of views on the current state and prospects for developing relations between Russia and the pan-African organization.
