Wenchi, (Bono), July 2, GNA-Pastor Samuel Yerenkyi, the Wenchifie District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost in the Bono Region has called on the government to disband political vigilante groups in the country.
He said political vigilantism threatened prevailing national peace, security and social cohesion, and urged political parties to always conduct issue-based politicking.
Pastor Yerenkyi, also a member of the Wenchi chapter of the Local Council of Churches made the call when speaking at the National Day of Thanksgiving held at the Wenchi Jubilee Park.
He also called for collective efforts to stem examination malpractices, saying that the bad practice remained inimical to the proper upbringing and development of the youth.
“Even if students cheat and find their way through examinations, they will eventually face real world challenges they aren’t prepared to handle”, he stated.
Pastor Yerenkyi also called on educational institutions to uphold and defend exam rules and regulation, saying that “ethical teachers are crucial for building a competent and honest generation”.
“This can also help us to reset our values and to build the better Ghana we are all yearning for”, he added.
