Accra, July 22, GNA- The National Service Authority (NSA) Board has directed the immediate suspension of deductions from national service personnel allowances for a capacity-building programme following complaints from beneficiaries.
The Board also ordered the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) to suspend its training agreement with Zeus Atlas Ltd pending a review of the programme.
The National Service Authority announced the directive, issued in consultation with the Minister for Youth, Empowerment and Development, Mr George Opare Addo, in response to concerns over deductions from personnel allowances.
The Board instructed the Authority to stop all deductions related to the programme until the review is completed.
The decision follows complaints by national service personnel over deductions of GH¢60 from their latest allowances, with some reporting higher amounts.
NASPA President Abdul Wahab Mohammed said the initiative was introduced following a decision by the Association’s National Executive Council in December 2025 to improve the employability of national service personnel.
He said the deductions were intended to finance training in coding and other professional courses leading to certification.
“An amount of GH¢15 was to be deducted monthly for the capacity-building programme,
amounting to GH¢180 over the one-year service period,” he said.
Mr Mohammed said NASPA had requested the NSA to deduct GH¢60 from the latest allowance to cover the first four months of the programme.
He announced the immediate suspension of the programme in its current form and said no further deductions related to it would be made until further notice.
