MTN-MoMo unveils cash rewards to drive digital payments among ‘keke’ riders

Ho, July 17, GNA – MobileMoney Fintech Limited (MoMo from MTN) has announced an incentive package, including weekly cash rewards, monthly prizes and free data bundles, to encourage commercial tricycle (Keke) riders to adopt digital payment solutions.

The package forms part of the company’s “Ride with MoMo” campaign aimed at promoting a cashless transport ecosystem and advancing digital financial inclusion across Ghana.

Mr Faisal Ali, the Manager, Mobile Money Channel Development at MobileMoney Fintech Limited, announced the incentives on July 16, 2026, during the launch of the initiative at Ho.

He said the three-month campaign would reward riders who accepted passenger fares through their MoMo merchant wallets or Quick Response (QR) codes.

“This is an opportunity for riders to use MoMo to accept payments. As you promote digital payments, we also want to reward you for supporting Ghana’s digital agenda,” he said.

Mr Ali explained that registered riders who recorded 20 or more customer transactions in a week with a cumulative value of at least GHS1,000, would automatically receive one gigabyte (1GB) of mobile data.

He said riders who ranked among the top 100 performers nationwide each week would also receive GHS500 in addition to the free data bundle.

The Manager said outstanding riders would further qualify for monthly prizes of GHS1,000, based on their transaction volumes throughout the campaign.

He urged commercial tricycle operators who had not yet enrolled to register with only their Ghana Card at any MTN service centre or registration point.

Mr Ali also introduced a referral programme, under which riders who encouraged passengers to download the MoMo application and use QR code payments, would receive 300 megabytes of data for every successful referral.

He said rider associations would also benefit from the promotion, explaining that any association that successfully enrolled at least 100 members into the campaign would receive special rewards from MoMo.

Mr Ali noted that beyond the promotional incentives, the initiative would eliminate the inconvenience associated with cash transactions, including the search for change and the risks of carrying cash.

“With MoMo, riders no longer need to carry cash or move around looking for change. It makes business safer, faster and more convenient for both riders and passengers,” he said.

He reaffirmed MobileMoney Fintech Limited’s commitment to supporting businesses through digital innovation and urged transport operators to embrace cashless payments to improve efficiency and financial management.
