KTU, CryoChain to build cold chain AgriTech hub in Eastern Region

Accra, July 16, GNA – Koforidua Technical University and CryoChain Ghana Limited have announced plans to establish a Cold Chain AgriTech and Applied Technology Ecosystem Hub in the Eastern Region.

The proposed collaboration will combine KTU’s technical expertise with CryoChain’s cold chain technology to reduce post‑harvest losses, enhance food security and strengthen agribusiness development.

A release copied to Ghana News Agency said the partnership was discussed at a stakeholder meeting to outline the project’s framework.

Mr Will McCoy II, Co‑Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CryoChain, said the company would integrate cold storage, processing and clean energy while training KTU students on‑site.

He said the initiative would create skilled jobs to retain young graduates and stimulate local suppliers and spin‑off ventures.

Mr McCoy said that the project aligned with the 24‑Hour Economy Programme, which identifies agro‑processing and cold chain development as priority sectors.

Mr Marvin Clement, Strategic Advisor to CryoChain, said the hub would be built around research, training, product development and industry linkages.

“These pillars are intended to make cold chain technology more accessible, practical, and sustainable for farmers and agribusinesses across Ghana,” he stated.

Professor Ohene Asiedu, Pro Vice‑Chancellor of KTU, described the proposed partnership as “a step in the right direction” for the University and commended CryoChain for the vision.

Professor Martin Offei, Dean of Student Affairs, said the collaboration had the potential to transform the University, empower students and contribute to socio‑economic development in the area and beyond.

KTU and CryoChain Ghana Limited are expected to continue discussions in the coming weeks to finalise the partnership agreement.
