Accra, July 29, GNA – The Government, in collaboration with the Gbeho and related families, has announced a state funeral in honour of the stellar national and international service rendered by the late Mr James Victor Gbeho.
It is scheduled to be held on Friday, 31st July, at the at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
A statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, said Mr Gbeho, one of Ghana’s most distinguished statemen, was a career diplomat who rose through the ranks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving successively as Chief Director, Deputy Minister, and ultimately Minister for Foreign Affairs.
It said beyond service to Ghana, he was a Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Somalia, and later, President of the ECOWAS Commission.
“Government extends its deepest condolences to his family,” the statement said.
