Accra, July 22, GNA – Ghana’s official gold reserves rose to 24.4 tonnes valued at US$3.65 billion in June 2026, recovering from a decline recorded at the end of 2025.
The increase marked a rise from 18.6 tonnes in December 2025 and 20.8 tonnes in March 2026, according to the Bank of Ghana’s (BoG) latest economic and financial report.
The Central Bank said gold reserves increased to 24.4 tonnes by June 2026, with the value of the holdings rising from US$2.68 billion at the end of 2025 to US$3.65 billion.
The data showed that Ghana’s gold holdings had fallen from 37.1 tonnes in September 2025 to 18.6 tonnes in December 2025 before the subsequent recovery.
The BoG also reported that gross international reserves stood at US$12.94 billion in June 2026, equivalent to about five months of import cover.
Gold export earnings reached US$12.50 billion in the first six months of 2026, making the commodity Ghana’s largest export earner during the period.
The rise in gold reserves coincided with increased gold export receipts and higher international gold prices during the review period.
