Pepease-Kwahu (E/R), July 27, GNA – Nana-Kwabena Mensah and Papa-Kwabena Mensah, Ghanaian American twin siblings, have commissioned a sports facility for the Florence Osei Ntim R/C Basic School at Pepease in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region to promote sports development and physical education.
The facility comprises a football pitch, a netball court, and a volleyball court, and is expected to support talent development while providing pupils with improved opportunities for recreation and physical fitness.
The sports facility was handed over on behalf of the twin siblings by Mr Frederick Osafo Ntim, Chief Executive Officer of FON Group of Companies.
In a speech read on their behalf, Nana-Kwabena Mensah, a student-athlete at Philip O. Berry High School in North Carolina, United States, said the facility would serve as a centre for nurturing young sporting talents and provide pupils with opportunities to develop their skills and realise their potential.
He said the sports facility would also provide a safe recreational space for pupils to improve their physical fitness and overall well-being.
Papa-Kwabena Mensah, a student-athlete at Philip O. Berry Academy of Technology in North Carolina, said the facility would inspire young athletes to pursue excellence in sports and aspire to represent the district, region and Ghana in national and international competitions.
Mr Badu Boakye Yiadom, Headteacher of Florence Osei Ntim R/C Basic School, expressed gratitude to the benefactors for the gesture, describing the project as a transformative intervention for the school.
He said the sports facility would strengthen physical education and extracurricular activities while providing pupils with a safe and conducive environment for training and sporting competitions.
“The facility will position the school among the leading basic schools in sports development in the area and contribute to the holistic education and development of the pupils,” he said.
